Meet Erminia Scordo, Merchandiser, Accessories at Centric Brands, Europe. In her interview, Erminia shares how she tailors product assortments to resonate with the European market and the importance of effective communication.
Can you tell us about your role and what your team does?
I am a Product Manager overseeing the Accessories, Jewelry, and Handbags categories. In this role, I collaborate closely with the Design, Sales, Planning, and Production teams. My primary responsibility is to curate a commercially viable product assortment tailored to the European market. To achieve this, I conduct comprehensive analyses, including monitoring market trends, assessing competitor performance, and evaluating previous sales data. I also actively solicit feedback from our Sales Team. By collecting and reviewing this information, I gain valuable insights into the strengths and weaknesses of our product range.
What do you think are the most important skills a successful professional need to have?
Effective communication is a paramount skill in every professional’s toolkit. Proficiency in communication fosters relationships with leaders, colleagues, and suppliers and cultivates active listening and open-mindedness within the team.
What is the best career advice you have received?
Venture outside your comfort zone. While feeling apprehensive about an opportunity may be uncomfortable initially, it motivates me to embrace new experiences, bolster my self-assurance, and enhance my skill set.
How would your friends describe you?
My friends would likely characterize me as enjoyable, dependable, and trustworthy. I aim to be recognized for my robust work ethic while embracing a good sense of humor. I firmly believe in fostering a lively and pleasant atmosphere in my professional and personal life.
