July 28, 2023
In our Associate Spotlight series, we are highlighting associates across the company who are shaping our community and who embody our Centric Brands philosophy every day.
Meet Gwyn Chen, Assistant Manager, System Training and Support at Centric Brands, Asia. In her interview, Gwyn discusses how her desire for knowledge allows her to continuously acquire fresh insights and new skills to further her professional development. Whenever she is confronted with unfamiliar challenges or topics, she embraces the opportunity by investing her time and energy into finding solutions that drive meaningful impact.
Can you tell us about your role and what your team does?
I am a member of the Asia Operations Team, responsible for the training and support of the Infor Nexus system, a system that helps to manage the product inventory flow, transactions, and information. Our training efforts are focused on two main areas: providing orientation to new partners and offering solutions to partners who encounter difficulties with Infor Nexus.
When I receive a new partner onboarding request, I work closely with the Infor Nexus team to facilitate their registration and handle the necessary technical setup in the system. I support our partners through personalized one-on-one assistance or small-group training sessions. By engaging with our partners and understanding their needs I can proactively address their challenges and develop comprehensive instructions for future reference.
What is one quality that you bring to your role that you think makes you stand out?
I am constantly seeking to learn more and expand my knowledge so I can share it with others. Throughout my professional journey, my goal has been to become an exceptional project manager. Whenever someone approaches me with a challenge or a subject, I’m unfamiliar with, I embrace the opportunity and dedicate my time and effort to finding the necessary solutions.
What is a current project you’re working on that is especially exciting for you?
It is not merely a project but rather a case study. We find ourselves confronted with instances in which a partner generates duplicate documents within the system, leading to variances in transaction quantities compared to purchase orders and logistic booking documents. I aim to closely examine and reconcile all the records this partner generates within the system to understand their operations. We must brainstorm and devise effective measures, either through manual means or system enhancements, to stop the recurrence of such situations in the future.
What’s something surprising that not many people know about you?
I’m a massive admirer of the Harry Potter series. Different regions in China have varying levels of cultural openness, and Guangdong is one of the more open provinces, allowing for the exploration of foreign books and ideas. When I was transferred from Hubei to Guangdong for middle school, it opened a whole new world of literature. I became deeply fascinated by the enchanting universe created by J.K. Rowling and was equally captivated by the film adaptation, which beautifully brought that world to life. It has always been my dream to one day visit Platform Nine and Three Quarters at King’s Cross Station in London.
