In our Associate Spotlight series, we are highlighting associates across our Company who are shaping our community and who embody our Centric Brands philosophy every day.

Meet Hanna Reichel, Senior Manager, Sustainability, Global Compliance at Centric Brands. In her interview, Hanna shares her experience in building sustainability programs in the fashion industry and her motivation behind integrating responsible business practices that have shaped her life’s work: every action counts.

What exciting opportunities do you foresee in advancing Centric’s sustainability mission?

The most significant opportunity lies in navigating this target-rich environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to set organizational priorities, and empowering passionate individuals to drive sustainability initiatives within Centric.

What is Centric’s philosophy for sustainability?

Our philosophy is rooted in a deep commitment to responsible business practices, as reflected by our efforts to optimize product design, adopt sustainable materials, and explore re-commerce strategies. We’re currently finalizing a comprehensive roadmap with specific, Science-Based Targets and priorities for 2024 and beyond. The possibilities are seemingly endless and Centric’s entrepreneurial spirit allows us to experiment with strategies tailored to various brands and consumer segments, driving continuous innovation across mainstream and luxury markets.

What is Centric presently doing in the sustainability space?

In my first weeks at Centric, I had the opportunity to join the Brand Summit and Vendor/Mill Fair, which exposed me to many of the initiatives being implemented by our business teams. For example, the Buffalo and IZOD teams, whose meticulous consideration of sustainable materials, from packaging to trims, reflects an approach we aspire to – across all product teams. This exemplary commitment to environmental stewardship was recently recognized by ECOCERT in Canada. I’m excited to continue collaborating with our Sourcing leaders to identify and invest in suppliers who prioritize best practices and enable us to drive meaningful change across the supply chain.

What aspects of sustainability initiatives resonate with you the most in your daily life, whether in your work or personal endeavors?

All of us, no matter where we live in the world, are experiencing the impacts of climate change. That means we can also be part of the solution. What motivates me every day is the opportunity to empower individuals and teams to integrate sustainability into their work and personal lives. The community I grew up in has a long tradition of doing trash clean-ups on Earth Day. We called it Green Up Day, and I looked forward to it every year. It’s where I first learned a very valuable lesson that has shaped my life’s work: that every action counts.
