ASSOCIATE SPOTLIGHT SERIES: AN INTERVIEW WITH JAMIE WEN WEINER

June 20, 2023

In our Associate Spotlight series, we are highlighting associates across the company who are shaping our community and who embody our Centric Brands philosophy every day.

Meet Jamie Wen Weiner, Assistant, Designer, Kids Division. Her passion for clothing design has played a significant role in her professional growth journey and contribution to the success of Centric Brands.

Can you tell us about your role and what your team does?

I have an exciting and dynamic role as an assistant designer for Kami Loukipoudis. Designing underwear involves a combination of creativity, technical skills, and a global perspective. My responsibilities encompass various aspects of the design process, from creating tech packs in PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) to updating line sheets and presentation decks using AI and 3D designs.

As an assistant designer, I’m crucial in trend research and color/print selection for each season. Therefore, staying informed about the latest fashion trends, consumer preferences, and cultural influences worldwide is essential to create designs that resonate with a diverse global audience. Additionally, our team works with factories in different countries, which requires effective communication and collaboration to ensure Centric’s creative ideas are accurately executed during production.

Can you tell us a professional success story you’re proud of?

Centric Brands has been instrumental in my professional growth and success as a designer. Working with a supportive team and a company that prioritizes fairness and kindness has made a significant difference in overall job satisfaction and performance.

Being part of a supportive team fosters a positive work environment where collaboration and creativity thrive. When colleagues encourage and inspire each other, it creates a space for exchanging ideas, learning from one another, and achieving collective goals.

How did you become passionate about your career choice/this career path?

As a little girl, I loved dressing up – but didn’t always have the right size-fitting clothes to follow my desired style. This struggle inspired me to become a fashion designer, fueling my desire to make a difference and provide more style choices for others with similar challenges.

As a fashion designer, I have the power to create designs that cater to specific body types and address the needs and preferences of people of all shapes and sizes. By focusing on designing clothes that flatter and fit all frames, I can empower individuals to express their style confidently and comfortably.

My firsthand understanding of the struggles faced by petite individuals gives me a unique insight into their specific requirements. I can incorporate these insights into my designs, considering proportions, length adjustments, and silhouette enhancements to create garments tailored to all body types.

What are you most passionate about and why?

Besides fashion design, I am passionate about health and wellness. Taking care of your physical and mental well-being is essential for leading a balanced and fulfilling life. Engaging in activities like weightlifting and going to the gym allows me to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I also practice taekwondo, it’s another excellent way to stay active and disciplined.

I also enjoy reading, it’s a beautiful hobby that stimulates the mind and expands my knowledge. Whether you enjoy fiction, non-fiction, or self-improvement books, reading allows you to explore new ideas, gain different perspectives and continuously learn and grow.
