ASSOCIATE SPOTLIGHT SERIES: AN INTERVIEW WITH JMAR WILLIAMS

November 11, 2022

In our Associate Spotlight series, we are highlighting associates across the company who are shaping our community and who embody our Life at Centric philosophy every day.

Meet Jmar Williams, Project Manager, Supply Chain Operations at Centric Brands. In his Interview, Jmar reflects on his 10 years at Centric Brands and shares how he enjoys working with and training new hires as a way to give back.

You have been a part of our Company’s evolution into Centric Brands. What do you think has helped you through our transformation?

My ability to adapt to change has helped me through the many transitions – Li & Fung, Global Brands Group and Centric Brands. As the Company and leadership changed, I used each opportunity to learn and refine my abilities which have helped me grow within the organization. Also, my motivation to succeed has helped me stay focused throughout the changes. I continue to push myself and look for opportunities to learn new job functions when I can.

Can you tell us about your current and previous roles?

I started on the Project Management Team in September 2018 as a Subject Matter Expert for Allocations. In my role, I work on developing Standard Operating Procedures, solutioning efficiency opportunities and training new hires with a concentration on system navigation and allocation. I find my position rewarding as I’m able to assist our Supply Chain Operations team with creating synergy in our processes. I also love that I can help the new hires with their career journey, which makes me feel like I am able to give back to the area from where I started.

What is the best career advice you have received?

To not take things personally and to be confident in my own abilities. These are words of wisdom that helped me throughout my career and that I learned from my family. My Aunt Paulette, who passed two years ago, always told me, “Do not sweat the small stuff.” When someone critiques my work, I take it as constructive criticism and motivation to progress.

The holidays are around the corner. What are some traditions you have during this time of year?

I enjoy spending quality time with my family over the holidays; it is very important to me. My grandmother, who I am close with, celebrated her 91st birthday this year. In honor of the matriarch of our family, we had a party to celebrate her. My family members from North Carolina and other states came together to share our love. I feel very lucky to be able to spend time with my family during the holiday season. It was great to start our festivities early by celebrating my grandmother’s birthday on October 30!
