Meet Pedro de Sa, Finance Director at Centric Brands, Europe. In his interview, Pedro shares how he fosters a collaborative workplace culture that helps his team feel valued, engaged, and empowered to learn and develop, continuously.
Can you tell us about your role and what your team does?
As the Finance Director for Europe, I am responsible for various functions across our company. These encompass product management and merchandising, planning, operations, and finance. Despite our team being of moderate size, my role is grounded in an entrepreneurial mindset, which requires me to foster an energetic and self-motivated team. I strongly encourage my team to embrace a proactive approach in carrying out their duties and preemptively recognizing potential risks.
How did you become passionate about your career choice/this career path?
The inspiration for embarking on this career journey was ignited by the influence I drew from prominent figures within the industry, including Angela Ahrendts, former Senior Vice President of Retail at Apple, Inc. and Christopher Balley, former Burberry Chief Creative Officer, and President. Their achievements fuel my enthusiasm and drive to achieve similar accomplishments.
How do you prefer to collaborate with other team members?
My preferred approach to collaborating with fellow team members involves cultivating a multifaceted team composition that brings in diverse skill sets. It is essential for individuals to grasp their respective areas of accountability and exhibit a genuine commitment to achieving their objectives. I derive satisfaction from participating in teams that exhibit a collective dedication to a shared objective, characterized by proactive engagement and a united pursuit of the designated goal.
What’s something surprising that not many people know about you?
While my entire professional background lies within finance, spanning 14 years, what might catch you off guard is that I possess an MBA in Marketing. On a personal note, I love rocking sustainable fashion, and I’m all about buying stuff that comes with those green certifications.
