ASSOCIATE SPOTLIGHT SERIES: AN INTERVIEW WITH SHERRON

May 30, 2025

In our Associate Spotlight series, we are highlighting associates across our Company who are shaping our community and who embody our Centric Brands philosophy every day.

Meet Sherron Stevens, Senior Manager, Finance at Centric Brands. Sherron’s leadership and cross-functional approach have played a key role in optimizing financial operations and strengthening internal processes across the company. In her interview, learn how she and her team work to protect the assets of Centric and ensure customers are adhering to our contracts and agreements.

Can you share insights about your role and responsibilities?

My team ensures all customer contracts and sales-related agreements are properly set up and followed by customers, disputing chargebacks and recovering funds from incorrect reduced payments when necessary. We’re responsible for sharing chargeback data and trends with all Centric divisions and tracking resolution progress. Our team also works to identify the root cause of deductions and educate our colleagues on how to prevent them in the future.

How did you land in your current role? Was it a linear path?

I began my career in accounts receivable as a credit and collections clerk and worked my way up. From the beginning, I’ve always enjoyed collaborating across departments to optimize business operations, so joining a shared service center at Centric Brands was a natural step for me.

What is a project you’re particularly proud of?

We launched an “invoicing at the low” project for Walmart in February. By partnering with our IT and accounting teams, we implemented a system that includes Walmart’s discount at the time of billing. This initiative significantly reduces chargebacks, decreases dispute audits and improves collection efforts and cash flow through an increased automated invoice match rate. The project has also enhanced how we enter contracts in SAP, better equipping us to accrue for various customer agreements.

What is your philosophy on building a strong team?

Building a strong team is crucial to any company and leaders’ success. I believe in challenging team members to develop their own solutions rather than simply providing answers. I encourage them to take on tasks outside their comfort zones while offering guidance and support.

What are your hobbies?

Anyone who knows me knows I am very family oriented. My son Brycen is my pride and joy, and I’ll be celebrating 26 years of marriage to my husband Jimmy this year. I also enjoy being with my mom and brother—we get together for dinner every Wednesday night! I love spending time and laughing with my family.
