Creators for a Cause is an internal product series that showcases the Company’s pride of creation culture and highlights the incredible design talents of our colleagues. Creators within Centric Brands design limited edition products available for purchase exclusively by Centric colleagues. 100% of the proceeds are donated to a non-profit chosen by the designer each month.

In honor of Latinx Heritage Month, we are excited to share our next Creators for a Cause product – UNIDOS: The Latin and Caribbean Cookbook, designed by Naiomy Valdes, Graphic Designer, Marketing and illustrations by Brandi Abbondanza, Senior Designer, KHQ Corporate. The cookbook is available in both a physical and digital format.

All proceeds of the cookbook will be donated to Make the Road New York (MRNY), an immigrant-led grassroots organization that provides an array of services such as educational trainings, legal services, and even health services for the Latinx community and beyond.

We interviewed Co-Founders of UNiDOS to learn more about the inspiration behind the cookbook.

Why a cookbook?

We wanted to create something that represented all of our current members. Food has always been a huge form of self-expression and integral part of our identity. We seek out and recreate those dishes that makes think of our families and heritage, to bring us a little closer together, sharing it with our friends and family.

What does the cause, Make the Road New York, benefitting from the product mean to you?

When starting Unidos, an important part of what we connected to was giving back and supporting our LatinX and Caribbean communities. There are so many issues right now that we feel a responsibility as a group to reach out and support in any way possible. When researching organizations Make The Road really Stood out to us because of how impactful they have been in the past few years in changing systems and bringing justice to underserved communities throughout New York and at a national level as well.
