Brandon Williams has a love of Hudson Jeans’ elevated styling and designs that transcend trends.
Having started his relationship with the brand through a successful, two-year dedicated partnership to create collaborations, his new role as creative architect will see Williams take on the brand on a larger scale and lead as a forward-facing representative. His goals include amplifying the foundation of the brand to build on the legacy of the Hudson brand – though he will be bringing a new lens to visual content creation and his boundary-pushing design to find new ways to show up for customers.
In his work, Williams has already put Hudson Jeans in the spotlight with an increase in celebrity clientele, especially within the world of sports. Notably, he counts some of the most fashionable athletes of the NBA, MLB and NFL as clients and has been seen in on-camera features with The Bleacher Report, NFL’s The Check Down, ESPN and NBA Live. The creative also previously served as a contributor to Sport’s Illustrated Fashionable 50 and has had work featured in GQ and Slamm.
Williams’ influence on the premium denim lifestyle brand, he said, will be to guide its evolution alongside its fashionable customers, shaping a new generation to follow.
Hudson Jeans will showcase its latest designs at the Men’s Chicago Collective show this season, exemplifying designs that highlight the quality and integrity of its craftmanship legacy. Ahead of the event, Williams talked to Fairchild Studio about what attendees can expect to see from Hudson Jeans and what the future holds for the brand.
Fairchild Studio: From your perspective, what is Hudson’s legacy and how has the brand evolved since 2002?
Brandon Williams: The legacy of the brand is a rebellious take on mid-tier lux and premium denim. Break the rules but only if you can replace them with rules that work better and lead the way. We are evolving – evolving with the world of fashion and our customers.
Our aim is to remind and reintroduce ourselves as the leader in premium denim.
Fairchild Studio: What is the inspiration for the collection that Hudson will be showcasing at Chicago Collective?
B.W.: The inspiration for where we are as a brand is rooted in our foundation and the conceptual space that allowed us to be successful. Breaking the norms with new shapes and texture applications. We also have found success with owning the mantra “quiet noise” — basically quiet luxury done the Hudson way.
Our expansive approach to classics and fashion is very on point, in my opinion. For men we have: The Walker Flare, The Wes Straight and The Luca Wide Leg. And for Women, we have: The Rosie Wide Leg, The Bailey Barrel, The Rylee low and loose, and our classic silhouette The Beth.
Fairchild Studio: How would you describe the Hudson Jeans customer?
B.W.: For Men, we really have two consumers — one that leans street and sits with all the most sought-after brands in luxury retailers such as Saks, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale’s and Marios and Mitchells. Then we have our heritage classic consumer who shops in stores like Marios & Mitchell’s.
Our women’s customer is unconventionally cool, effortless, elevated, on-trend and disruptive
with her sophistication.
Fairchild Studio: Can you briefly talk to us about your work to dress celebrities and athletes?
B.W.: I have been a trailblazer and pioneer in the athlete and style space. It’s cool to see that my earlier work, along with a handful of other stylists, has opened the door to the world of new stylists and a world of fans who can see their favorite athlete as more than just a sports figure through the lens of fashion.
Fairchild Studio: What are your goals for the Hudson Jeans brand now and looking ahead?
B.W.: My goal is to carve out a space in the market where our heritage as a premium denim company is respected and to be honored as a difference maker. Creative approach and uniquely shaped stories allow a new generation of Hudson followers to know us and adore us for years to come.
