IZOD EVOLVES SENSORY UNIFORMS INTO AN ADAPTIVE CLOTHING LINE FOR KIDS

October 25, 2022

Evolving their sensory uniform line, IZOD introduces a new, truly adaptable collection for kids.

IZOD introduced sensory uniforms – without tags, seams or zippers, and with elastic waistbands – in 2019, and since then, the brand has evolved designs to create an even more inclusive product.

To create this new adaptive line, the IZOD team had to reimagine several elements. First and foremost, the design needed to serve a diverse customer base in a comfortable and functional way. All aspects of the product had to be considered when modifying the designs for children who have a limited range of motion.

The challenge was to ensure the uniforms maintained their style while allowing for more function at an affordable price. Important modifications had to be made – for example, adding Velcro, which makes dressing and undressing easier while keeping costs down, and creating wider legs and longer inseams, which enable more movement.

“Inclusivity isn’t just about sizing. We expanded our uniforms to create a truly adaptive product because we know everyone – especially kids – wants to feel included. We want to make kids’ lives easier, so they feel their best,” said Adam Cagan, Senior Vice President, IZOD.
