LOCAL COAT DRIVE SPREADS HOLIDAY JOY

January 13, 2022

At Centric Brands, serving and uplifting the communities where we live and do business is in our DNA.

This past holiday season, Melissa Lefere-Cobb, SVP and Global Division Head of Herve Leger and Zac Posen, organized a coat drive with her son and his friends through the Lions Heart, a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring and engaging teen volunteering and leadership to create community-focused leaders. When she reached out to her Centric Brands family for an additional donation, the Centric Brands Kids Division was quick to gather donations for the cause.

The first shipment of coats arrived directly to the Lions Heart coat drive, held at St. Paul’s Chapel in Garden City. They were then boxed up and donated to The INN, The Interfaith Nutrition Network, Inc., a nonprofit, volunteer-based organization that provides essential services to assist those challenged by hunger, homelessness, and poverty.

A few days later, when a second shipment of coats arrived, Melissa knew that she could extend their reach even further. She posted a message on a local Facebook group asking if anyone knew organizations or people in need of winter coats. The response was overwhelming. For the next two days, Melissa, her son, and his friends hand-delivered the additional donations to people’s homes and local organizations. In total, over fifteen families received new coats in addition to supporting two different coat drives.

“I was so proud of Centric and how lucky we are to have such a giving and thoughtful company,” Melissa said.
